The Benefits of Praying Novenas

Self-Discipline

We learn to have a prayer routine and better self-discipline by saying novena prayers every day for nine days. Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray always and not lose heart. (Luke 18:1)

More Meaningful

Novenas help us prepare for Feast days and solemnities so that they have greater meaning for us.

Trusting in God

As we focus on a specific prayer intention, we learn to trust that God knows what is best for us.

Praying a novena reminds us how much we rely on God’s love. He answers our prayers in the way that is best for us.

CREDITS

The LOGO image of Our Lady of Grace is original artwork by Martin Lariviere in 2009.  We have the artist’s permission (my son). It is our exclusive trademark logo image.

A beautifully photographed sky by Donald Tong inspired the website’s colour scheme. Cropped portions of it are the background for the footer Bible verse. He shared it as a free download on pexels.com.

Raphael painted The Sistine Madonna circa (1513-1514). We made circular cut-outs from the original image.

The official photo of St. Teresa of Calcutta’s canonization shows a face worn with work and warmed with loving concern for others. It is a free image from favpng.com.

One of my favorite paintings by Guido Reni depicts The Virgin at Prayer. The date of this masterpiece is circa 1627.

Fabio Losada shared the photo of the man praying at sunset on Cathopic.

IN REVIEW
How do we pray the St. Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa) Novena?
There are two different St. Teresa of Calcutta Novenas.  One is quick and the other is for nine days.

1. A well-known novena has 3 names: Flying Novena, Express Novena, or Emergency Novena. We pray the Memorare nine times in a row for an urgent request. Mother Teresa would add a tenth Memorare in thanksgiving for answered prayers.

2. There is also a longer 9-day novena (August 27 to September 5) to pray for a special intention. It is part of the regular prayers of the Lay Missionaries of Charity (a branch of Mother Teresa’s Order). Anyone can say this prayer.

What is the LMC Mother Teresa Novena Prayer?

There are reflections and prayers for each of the nine days. It starts on August 27th and leads up to her feast day on September 5th. Click to pray on our website.
