Holy Spirit Novena: Eighth Day
FRIDAY
Begin with the Sign of the Cross.
Wisdom
Embodying all the other gifts, as charity embraces all the other virtues, Wisdom is the most perfect. Of wisdom, it is written,
…all good things came to me with her, and innumerable riches through her hands. (Wisdom 7:12)
The gift of Wisdom strengthens our faith, fortifies hope, perfects charity, and promotes the practice of virtue to the highest degree. Wisdom enlightens the mind to discern and relish things divine, in the appreciation of which earthly joys lose their savour, while the Cross of Christ yields a divine sweetness according to the words of the Saviour:
Take up your cross and follow me, for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 16:24, 11:30)
Prayer
Come, O Spirit of Wisdom, and reveal to my soul the mysteries of heavenly things, their exceeding greatness, power, and beauty. Teach me to love them above and beyond all earthly joys and satisfaction. Help me to attain them and possess them forever. Amen.
Tip
You can start on the second bead of a rosary decade to count the final prayers.

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among* women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
