The ornate Our Father beads add a blue accent to this sterling silver mother-of-pearl rosary. Wire-wrapping adds more than twice the amount of wire compared to standard links, ensuring a much stronger rosary. Its construction gives it true heirloom quality.
Mother-of-Pearl is the iridescent material inside the lining of a thick shell. The mollusk coats the inside of its shell with nacre to protect it. Its iridescence results from light reflecting off the shell’s natural layers of nacre.
Artisan- created lampworked glass beads have an internal floral motif. The base colour of the glass is saturated throughout the bead and will not fade or rub off over time.

The Construction
Since gemstones and crystal beads are generally heavier, they add stress to the connections. Wire-wrapping secures and strengthens a rosary. It also adds a comfortable space between the beads.
Rosaries should be symmetrical. We do the extra work needed to ensure that the sections will line up.
How it is Attached
Since most Sterling silver jump rings will open, we prefer wrapped bows. One type we use has a stem surrounded by stacks of looped wire. There are open loops on each end. The other is shorter, with a small bead at the center. Both will do the extra work needed to secure a rosary.
The Beads
Among gemstone beads, there is a wide range of value. The more pure the stone, the higher the value. Another deciding factor is its rarity. Recently, the high demand for gemstones has depleted some of the world’s mines. The rarest stones are the most valuable. Yet what matters most is how much the beads inspire you to pray.

Storage

As shown in the photo, I use a piece of anti-tarnish paper with mine. Another option is a silica gel pack (poisonous) or a piece of chalk to help keep it dry.
