The Heirloom Bronze Lapis Lazuli Rosary has Grade A natural (non-dyed) gemstones. Because genuine Lapis is a rich mineral rock rather than a single crystal, each bead features its own unique fingerprint. It is composed mostly of lazurite (blue), with inclusions of calcite (white patches/veins) and pyrite (glittering gold flecks). The visible inclusions are a hallmark of authenticity and a mark of natural beauty.
Gemstone History
Pharaohs, kings, and queens adorned themselves with this precious stone for more than six millennia. Cleopatra wore it as eye shadow, and Renaissance masters like Michelangelo ground it into ultramarine pigment for paintings on church walls and ceilings, such as the Sistine Chapel—at a time when the colour was worth more than gold.
The Design
We wire-wrapped each authentic gemstone by hand with solid bronze wire. The warmth of the bronze complements the unique beads. We framed each Our Father bead with solid bronze ornate caps and tiny Lapis Lazuli gemstones. Bronze is an alloy known for its strength, corrosion resistance, and ability to develop a beautiful patina.
Pro-Tip: Wire-wrapped rosaries will not come unhooked; however, the design may occasionally result in a temporary kink. You can resolve it either by gently shaking it or by lifting and turning the section by hand.
About Bronze
Wire-Wrapped
Our bronze rosaries are wire-wrapped and sturdy. The stacked rings of wire will not come unhooked. They add extra space between the beads for ease of movement during prayer.
Solid Bronze
We make them with solid bronze. Wire-wrapped bows replace the sections that are usually chain links. We use solid bronze Crucifixes and centers made from vintage or unique originals.
At about half the cost of sterling silver, bronze makes an heirloom rosary more affordable.
Naturally Aged
In their natural form, bronze rosaries look like antiques. Bronze is a metal alloy primarily made of copper. With age and exposure to air, it naturally darkens to rich, earthy tones. Storing it in a closed container between uses will slow down this process as long as it is completely dry.
Polishing Option
If you prefer, bronze rosaries can be cleaned from time to time. Polished bronze has a shiny, gold look. You can click on the photo for more cleaning tips.
