Our St. Benedict Rare Purple Heart Crucifix is one you will treasure. It is made with one of the most prized and expensive types of wood in the world. The trees thrive in the tropical climate of Central and South America. This exotic wood is dense, sturdy, and watertight. As a result, it resists damage resulting from humidity, insects, and abrupt climate change.
What makes it seem rare is its unusual colour. Yet, it is not a threatened species and is, in fact, sustainable. The tree itself looks tall and ordinary. Freshly cut, it has a faded brown or dull grey shade. Yet, exposure to air and UV light trigger the pigments in the wood to give it a vibrant purple colour.
Please note that the colour of this wood will change with time to dark maroon or dark brown. We have a limited supply of this exotic wood. There are only three of these Crucifixes in the store. Once they are sold, they are discontinued.
Since we do not alter the natural tones and grains of the wood, each one has unique differences.
