St. Faustina's Way of the Cross
STATION 13: Jesus is Taken Down from the Cross
We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You (or: We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.)
BECAUSE BY YOUR HOLY CROSS, YOU HAVE REDEEMED THE WORLD.
A Reading from the Gospel According to Luke
(Luke 23: 47-49)
Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, and said, “Certainly this man was innocent!” And all the multitudes who assembled to see the sight, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts. And all his acquaintances and the women who had followed him from Galilee stood at a distance and saw these things.
Jesus: (celebrant reads)
Most dear to Me is the soul that strongly believes in My goodness and has complete trust in Me. I heap My confidence upon it and give it all it asks (453).
St. Faustina: (all read)
I fly to Your mercy, Compassionate God, who alone are good. Although my misery is great, and my offenses are many, I trust in Your mercy, because You are the God of mercy; and, from time immemorial, it has never been heard of, nor do heaven or earth remember, that a soul trusting in Your mercy has been disappointed (1730).
All Read:
Merciful Jesus, daily increase my trust in Your mercy that always and everywhere I may give witness to Your boundless goodness and love.
Celebrant Reads:
You, who suffered wounds for us,
All Read:
Christ Jesus, have mercy on us.
Stabat Mater
By the Cross with thee to stay,
There, with thee to weep and pray,
Is all I ask of thee to give.
