What are Chaplets?

How Many Chaplets Are There?

Although rosaries are the most familiar, chaplets are also a part of our Catholic tradition.   They can enrich our prayer lives and nourish our faith.

There is a chaplet for almost every need or devotion.  We have over 150 different ones in our collection.

What They Look Like

Chaplets are prayer beads that have different sets of prayers than that of the rosary. They vary a lot in the number and colour of their beads as well as the prayers they contain. The number of beads can represent, for example, the years of a saint’s life. Bead colours and shapes can also be significant. They can represent qualities like purity, love, or martyrdom.

Chaplet Prayers

Chaplets have a variety of prayers. The Blessed Sacrament Chaplet, for example, includes a prayer of spiritual Communion which was approved by Pope Pius X on May 30, 1911. It is for those times when we cannot receive the Eucharist, but have the desire to do so.

Chaplets can be prayed at specific times. For example, they can be prayed as a novena on the nine days leading up to a feast day. Therefore, since the Feast of the Immaculate Conception is on December the 8th, the prayers would start on November the 29th and end on December the 7th.

What You Pray For

Chaplets can help us with a particular situation or need. For example, the St. John Paul II Chaplet can help us improve our prayer lives. It includes a prayer for his intercession and reflections based on his inspirational teachings about prayer.   Many of them were from his World Youth Day talks.

Addiction Prayer Beads help us pray for struggles with addiction. Saint chaplets can be prayed for what they are the patron of. For example, St. Agatha is the patron saint of breast cancer, while St. Joseph is the patron saint of husbands, workers, Canada, and more.

About Our Handmade Chaplets

Packaging

Each chaplet comes with a sturdy prayer card.  It explains which prayers to say on which beads.

Suggestion

It is a good idea to store your chaplets and prayer cards together.  Since chaplets have unique bead groupings and prayers, the prayer card and chaplet need to stay together so that you can continue to use them.
