My Favorite Rosary I Have Ever Owned

I have owned my Bronze Knights of Columbus Rosary from Our Lady of Grace Rosaries for a full year now, and after many hours of prayer with it, I can confidently say that it is my favorite rosary I have ever owned.

The exceptional experience began before Anne ever started making it. She provided stellar personal service from the very beginning—patiently answering my questions, clearly setting expectations about the ordering process and wait time, and then contacting me when my turn in the queue arrived. She communicated throughout the process, provided photos, collected payment when the rosary was ready, and shipped it promptly. At every step, I felt like I was dealing with an artisan who genuinely cared about both her work and the person who would ultimately be praying with it.

And the workmanship is simply outstanding.

I’ve purchased more expensive rosaries from well-known and supposedly reputable Catholic retailers in the past, only to send them back because the links could easily open and separate during normal handling. That concern simply does not exist with this rosary. Anne’s incredibly sturdy wire wrapping—securely wrapped on both sides of every bead—gives me complete confidence in its construction. After a year of use, it still feels extraordinarily solid. This is not a delicate rosary that I feel I have to baby. It feels like an heirloom, and I fully expect that someday I will be able to pass it down to one of my children.

It has also become more beautiful with age. The bronze has begun developing a gorgeous natural patina, giving the rosary even more character, while the hematite beads retain their wonderful reflective shine. There is something particularly beautiful about seeing those beads catch the light while praying—a small reminder to me of His light present even in the darkness.

And then there is simply the way this rosary feels in the hand.

The weight and heft are remarkable. There is a substantial, almost “battle-ready” quality to it that seems especially fitting for the Rosary—a spiritual weapon against darkness. I don’t think I have ever held another rosary that feels this satisfying or substantial in my hands.

The tactile experience is excellent as well. The difference in bead sizes, combined with the spacing, makes it very easy to know exactly where I am while praying, even with my eyes closed. The way the eyelets of the links are slightly offset also helps the rosary move naturally and prevents the kind of persistent kinking I’ve experienced with other designs. Every aspect of it feels thoughtfully engineered as well as beautifully handcrafted.

As a Knight of Columbus, I take particular pride in owning and praying with this rosary. The Knights centerpiece, the bronze, the hematite, the weight, and the rugged construction all come together in a rosary that feels especially appropriate for a Catholic man and a Knight.

Anne’s exceptional work at Our Lady of Grace Rosaries has understandably created considerable demand and a waiting list for her custom work. Having now owned and prayed with mine for a year, I can say without a shadow of a doubt:

It is worth the wait.

There are plenty of places where you can simply buy a rosary. What Anne creates is something different. It is a carefully handcrafted devotional object built to be prayed with, carried, cherished, and ultimately handed down.

Anne sets the bar extraordinarily high for handcrafted rosaries, and I could not recommend her work more highly. – JG
