About our Cord (Fishing Net Twine)
About our Cord (Fishing Net Twine)
The idea of twisting fibers together to create durable cord and rope dates back to circa 2800 BC, when grass, flax, and cotton were used to make essentials like fishing nets.
Modern nylon cord, introduced in the early 1950s, continues this tradition. Today, we use this same high-performance 3-ply twisted nylon twine- originally designed for professional fishing nets – as the traditional and durable choice for strung rosaries. The photo shows an example of a rosary knotted with fishing net twine.

Benefits of the Nylon Material
Nylon offers the highest strength and shock absorbency of any synthetic rope. It is weather-resistant, resists fraying, feels smooth, and holds its knots exceptionally well.
Twisted Cord vs. Paracord
Twisted nylon cord is not the same as Paracord. As shown in the photo, Paracord has a woven texture around a core of twisted nylon cords, giving it a thicker, padded feel. Both are 100% nylon and designed for a lifetime of daily use.

IN REVIEW
Our number 9 twine measures approximately 1.07 to 1.1 mm thick, with an 84-pound tensile strength. It has 3 strands of nylon twisted tightly together. This same sturdy, reliable cord is used by professionals to knot fishing nets, making it an exceptional choice for durable, long-lasting rosaries.
Choose #9 cord (1.07mm – 1.1mm) if you want a lightweight, or minimalist rosary that perfectly fits beads like our Euro Wood or Olive Wood.
Choose #36 cord (2.15mm) if you want a much thicker, heavier rosary with larger knots. It is typically for rugged, heavy-duty all-cord designs.
