More Details

The Our Lady of Akita Chaplet has a glass dome center medal and olive wood beads.  We used heavy-duty wire and chain and attached it with wrapped bows. The prayers include the Eucharistic Prayer of Akita.

In 1973, Sister Agnes Katsuko Sasagawa had apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The wooden statue in the convent at Akita, Japan, wept 101 times. TV Tokyo Channel 12 broadcast the event in December 1973. She received three messages. The messages were about prayer (especially that of the rosary) and penance. The local bishop, John Shoojiroo Ito of Niigata, approved the apparition on April 22, 1984.

History of the 10 or 11-Bead Rosary

These chaplets (or rosaries) represent a single decade of the Rosary. They are from the 15th Century or earlier. At first, only the convents and monasteries made them. Over the centuries, they have become more readily available. Today, we know them as Pocket Rosaries because the prayers on the beads are the same as for a Rosary.

This chaplet doubles as a pocket rosary.

About Our Handmade Chaplets

Packaging

Each chaplet comes with a sturdy prayer card.  It explains which prayers to say on which beads.

Suggestion

It is a good idea to store your chaplets and prayer cards together.  Since chaplets have unique bead groupings and prayers, the prayer card and chaplet need to stay together so that you can continue to use them.
