Our Small Beige Accent Rosary has Euro Wood beads and stainless steel accent spacers. It has enough room to slide the beads to pray but takes up less space in a pocket or purse than a rosary with 8mm beads. The European, nontoxic, designer-quality wood beads are stained and sealed for colour durability.
We used #9 fishing net twine. It has an 84-pound tensile strength, which is more than enough durability for the function of a rosary. We heat-sealed the cut ends to prevent fraying. It looks like a darker, melted section. The rosary length varies a little each time we make it.
How to Choose Good Quality Cord Rosaries
Twine Quality
Since the inside of wood beads is never as smooth as the outside, it could cause some cord varieties to fray. We use nylon fishing net twine which has an incredible 102-pound breaking strength. Other craft cords may catch and fray.
Knot Quality
The integrity of the knots is an essential component for the structure of a strung rosary. In time, a loose knot will not stay in place. When they are secure, they look like a neat, tight stack of looped twine. Knots that are thick enough will not slide through the bead holes.
Knot Spacing
Strung rosaries work best when they are flexible. Space around the Hail Mary beads allows them to slide in place comfortably during prayer. A rosary with knots that are too close to the grouped beads will not bend enough to fit easily into a hand or pocket.
