We can pray the St. Maria Goretti Chastity Chaplet as a novena for the days leading to her feast day on July 6 or anytime. We pray for her intercession for an increase in modesty, chastity, and the grace to resist temptation. The frosted white glass beads remind us of her purity.
HER STORY
Her story is a difficult one to read. She suffered terribly but forgave her attacker in the end. Several times, Alessandro tried to convince her to commit sins of impurity. One day, he choked her and tried to rape her. She cried out that it was a mortal sin and that she would rather die than submit. He stabbed her fourteen times before he fled. Before she died from her wounds, she forgave her attacker and said she wanted to see him in heaven with her. Pope Pius XII declared her a saint on June 24, 1950. The reformed Alessandro was present for her canonization. He later became a lay brother of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin and lived in a monastery.
