The St. Gertrude Chaplet is a traditional prayer to release holy souls from Purgatory. The single Czech glass beads are wire-wrapped and capped. They are also slightly larger than the grouped beads. That detail makes it easier to notice them during prayer. Since the chaplet doubles as a rosary, it can also be for regular prayers.
St. Gertrude the Great was a 13th-Century Benedictine religious sister and mystic. We repeat her prayer 50 times as we pray the chaplet. According to tradition, St. Gertrude’s prayer helps release souls from Purgatory. Its effectiveness depends on our virtue and level of devotion. After the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, prayers like St. Gertrude’s prayer help suffering souls.
