More Details

The St. Isidore the Farmer Chaplet has wire-wrapped Job’s Tears beads. We can pray it as a novena to prepare for his feast day on May 15 or anytime.

St. Isidore walked long distances to attend daily Mass before going to work in the fields. He would stay after Mass to pray and often started work later than the others. He also prayed while he worked but was able to complete his tasks. The landowner said he found Isidore at prayer while an angel was ploughing for him. Another time, he noticed angels helping him. St. Isidore’s wife always kept a warm pot of stew so they could feed the hungry he would bring to their home.

History of the 9-Bead Chaplet

According to The Raccolta: A Manual of Indulgences, the 9-bead chaplet is at least 500 years old. They were likely in use before the late 18th Century. They have 3 groups of 3 beads with a saint medal or Crucifix in a closed loop or stretched out in a strand. At first, only convents and monasteries made them. Over the centuries, they have become more readily available.

The Prayers

On the medal or Crucifix, we ask for the intercession of a particular saint. Then, we pray one Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be on each group of beads. There is a partial indulgence when we say the sets of prayers this way.

Handmade Catholic items by Our Lady of Grace Rosaries are designed to be cherished and built to endure.

About Our Handmade Chaplets

Packaging

Each chaplet comes with a sturdy prayer card.  It explains which prayers to say on which beads.

Suggestion

It is a good idea to store your chaplets and prayer cards together.  Since chaplets have unique bead groupings and prayers, the prayer card and chaplet need to stay together so that you can continue to use them.
