Ever Wonder When the First Rosary Was Made?
Although no one can answer that question, we can give you a timeline.
How It All Began
Pope Pius V established the devotion to the Dominican Rosary on September 17, 1569. It was the 5-decade rosary we know and pray today.
How Rosaries Have Changed
Beading with wire is not new. Since the 15th Century B.C., it has been a way to make jewellery. These same techniques were applied to making rosaries. At first, they had wood and seed beads. Rosaries changed over the centuries that followed.
Glass bead rosaries became popular in the 20th Century. The Czech Republic started exporting glass beads in the 1920s. Rosaries soon became more colourful.
Post-Internet
Once the internet launched on August 9, 1991, a worldwide market opened up. Now, rosary makers can buy gemstone beads and other parts from anywhere in the world.
Today’s rosaries are more artistic and inspiring than they have ever been.
The Artisan Difference
Why invest in a handmade rosary? Artisans put their time and heart into designing and making rosaries. They loop the wire to attach the beads one at a time. They pay attention to the details that will make their rosaries last.
