More Details
We can hold onto a Comfort Cross while praying or when it is too difficult to pray. It can help us turn to God when we feel weakest. You can keep it nearby on a prayer table or in a pocket.
Our loved ones can hold it when they pray for us. Since we did not apply a wood finish, the natural oils from the hands of all who hold it for comfort and prayer will protect the wood. The reassurance of their love and support is embedded in the wood.
The first known Comfort Crosses were made in the USA in 2001. The husband of a hospice worker made small wooden crosses with smooth, rounded edges for the patients to hold for comfort and prayer.
*Since we do not alter the natural tones and grains of the wood, each one has unique differences.

Crucifix Prayer
The Prayer to Jesus Crucified
The Prayer to Jesus Crucified is another name for The Prayer before a Crucifix. It is in most Catholic prayer books. A unique feature is that it includes an excerpt from Psalm 22.

Plenary Indulgence
The Prayer to Jesus Crucified (or Prayer Before a Crucifix) has a plenary indulgence when prayed on Fridays during Lent (Pope Pius XI, 1934). At other times, it has a partial indulgence.

CREDITS
The LOGO image of Our Lady of Grace is original artwork by Martin Lariviere in 2009. We have the artist’s permission (my son). It is our exclusive trademark logo image.
A beautifully photographed sky by Donald Tong inspired the website’s colour scheme. Cropped portions of it are the background for the footer Bible verse. He shared it as a free download on pexels.com.
Raphael painted The Sistine Madonna circa (1513-1514). We made circular cut-outs from the original image.
La Crucifixion (detail), our featured image, was painted circa 1644 to 1646 by Philippe de Champaigne.
