Cord Cleaning Tips
Cleaning strung rosaries, chaplets, or bracelets depends on the beads.
Plastic Bead Rosaries
Strung Rosaries with plastic beads are the easiest to clean. They can be hand-washed in a sink of warm water with a gentle detergent and a toothbrush.
Alternatively, you can wash them inside of a laundry bag. Then, put them on the most delicate cycle of a washing machine. NEVER put them in the dryer. They need to air dry completely before use.
Rosaries With Wood Beads
Immersing strung wood rosaries in water will damage the beads. The only way to safely clean them is by moving the beads one at a time. With a damp cloth and mild detergent, slide the beads out of the way to wash the cord. Let it completely air dry before using it. Another idea is to have your rosary re-strung.
Knotted Twine Rosaries
Rope Rosaries have knots instead of beads. They can soak in a sink of warm water with a mild detergent. They can also go inside of a laundry bag on the gentlest cycle of a washing machine. Then hang them to dry.
A cord rosary should be completely dry before storing or using it.
