The Holy Name of Jesus Chaplet has designer-quality Czech glass beads. The wire-wrapped caps on the single beads make them easier to notice during prayer.
In our parish’s choir loft is a stained glass window donated by The Holy Name Society. (Pope Pius approved the society on April 13, 1564.) Devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus dates back to biblical times. Pope Gregory X (at the Council of Lyons, 1274) officially recognized the Holy Name devotion.
Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14) (cf. Phil 2: 9-11)
The Feast of the Holy Name is on January 3rd and the Church dedicates the entire month to this devotion. We live in a world where the irreverent use of Our Lord’s Name has become commonplace. We can pray in reparation for the misuse of His Holy Name. For example, we can offer a silent prayer whenever we hear His Name used irreverently. (ex. Blessed be God, Blessed be His Holy Name.) The Holy Name of Jesus Chaplet is a prayer of petition and a way to grow in reverence for Jesus and His Holy Name. Another beautiful prayer is the Litany of the Most Holy Name of Jesus.
