More Details

The rich brown and black tones of the gemstone beads amplify the center medal image of the Saint John of the Cross Rosary. It is wire-wrapped for greater prayer comfort. The loops are rounded to turn easily. The Our Father beads are a little larger to make them easier to notice during prayer. Saint John of the Cross was a Carmelite monk in the 16th Century.

What Makes a Rosary More Comfortable for Prayer?

Our Father Beads

A rosary with Our Father beads that stand apart in some way has an advantage over other rosaries. They can make it effortless to say the correct prayers on the beads, even with eyes closed while praying.

Look for a different shape, colour, or size. Also, be sure to check for caps or wire-wrapped Our Father beads.

Sturdy Connections

Unhooked links are a common structural problem for rosaries. The weight of the beads adds stress to their links.

Properly-secured loops need to be tight at every connection. Yet, they will only stay in place if the wire is stiff and strong enough to hold its shape.

Bead Caps

Enhancing a rosary with the use of bead caps adds to its character and uniqueness. However, they can work their way loose with time unless if the wire is stiff and well-rounded.

Wire-wrapping is a way to hold them consistently and securely in place. This specialized technique adds rows of wrapped wire stacked on each side of the caps.

Wire-Wrapping

Wire-wrapping on any rosary bead secures it. The extra turns in the wire add to its strength. We often wire-wrap the Our Father beads to help them stand apart. The stacked rows of wire look different from the loops on the other beads, and there is more space around them.

Added Bead Space

Sometimes, an entire rosary is wire-wrapped. A rosary with wrapped beads is more comfortable for prayer because of the added space that results from it.
