Begin with the Sign of the Cross.
OPENING PRAYER
LET US PRAY,
O God, in Your ineffable providence, You were pleased to choose Blessed Joseph to be the spouse of Your most holy Mother, grant, we beg You, that we may be worthy to have him for our intercessor in heaven whom on earth we venerate as our protector; You Who live and reign forever and ever.

REFLECTION:
1.
There is always a cause for the choices God makes. Out of the long procession of men through history, God selected Joseph to be the husband of Mary and the protector of the Savior.
2.
Joseph’s youth was one of stainless virtue. His young manhood was marked by deep religious faith and a burning desire to see the Savior of Israel.
3.
His was a life of honest work and of humility that fitted him for his part in the hidden life of the Savior.
4.
Little did he dream as he visited the synagogue on the Sabbath that someday he would be the protector of the synagogue’s God.
5.
Little did he understand that the carpenter’s trade that he was learning would be the way he would provide food and clothing for the world’s maker and would be the trade that he would teach the creator of the universe.
6.
Without knowing what it was that he was getting ready for, he gave to his simple jobs the full devotion and the full strength of the character of a simple, honest man.
7.
In these ordinary ways did he fit himself for the extraordinary assignment that God would give him.
8.
Remembering this splendid man, who walked the simple ways, we pray:
ST. JOSEPH MEMORARE
Remember, O most pure spouse of Mary, ever Virgin, my loving protector, Saint Joseph, that no one ever had recourse to your protection or asked your aid without obtaining relief.
Confiding, therefore, in your goodness, I come before you and humbly implore you. Despise not my petitions, Foster-father of the Redeemer, but graciously receive them.
Closing Prayers
God our Father and ruler of the universe, in every age You call human beings to develop and use their gifts for the good of others. With Saint Joseph as our example and guide, help us to do the work You have asked and come to the rewards You have promised.
Inspired by the example of Saint Joseph, may our lives manifest Your love, and may we rejoice forever in Your peace.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
