More Details
The Shower of Roses Pocket Rosary is a way to pray for the intercession of St. Therese. The flower beads are carved wood. They are stained and coated with layers of resin-based polymer. Although they are the same colour as Cinnabar, they are nontoxic. We wire-wrapped them with stainless steel beads for stability. We connected them with a heavy chain.
The Roses
Saint Therese of Lisieux promised, After my death, I will let fall a shower of roses. I will spend my heaven doing good upon earth. My mission is to make God loved. The Society of the Little Flower reported several instances where roses or their fragrance appeared. People have experienced cures and miracles. Gifts of grace and roses are her way of letting you know that she has heard your petition and God is responding. We do not pray for a sign of roses, but we can hope for it.
TIP: Wire-wrapped rosaries will not come unhooked. The design will sometimes result in a temporary kink. There are two ways to resolve it: a gentle shake; or lifting and turning the section by hand.
About Wire-Wrapping
An Ancient Skill
Wire-wrapping is a skill dating back to the 11th Century B.C. It is different from making links. While a rosary link involves bending the wire twice per bead, wrapping takes more work. Wire-wrappers bend the wire 8 to 10 times per bead to make stacked piles of rings.
A Comparison
Compared to rosaries with links, it takes more than twice the wire and the time. As a result, wire-wrapped rosaries are more costly. A wire-wrapped Sterling Silver rosary is noticeably more expensive than a linked one.
Cage-Wrapping
Cage-wrapping is the most decorative way to wire-wrap. The artisan embellishes each bead with a gentle swirl of wire.
Connections
Wrapped bows are one of the most practical applications of this technique. They are very reliable. Artisans frequently use them to attach beaded sections to the connector loops.
Although they will sometimes kink, bows will do the extra work necessary to secure a rosary. They can also replace lengths of chain. Above all, they are the most useful as connectors on rosaries with heavy beads.
