More Details

The St. Clare of Assisi Cord Chaplet has Olive Wood beads imported from the Holy Land.  They slide on the cord as you pray.  Franciscans cherish the San Damiano Crucifix like the one we chose for this chaplet.  It is designed like the original one that hung in the abandoned chapel near Assisi when St. Francis received his call to “rebuild my Church”.   St. Clare was one of the first followers of St. Francis of Assisi and the founder of the Poor Clares.

History of the 9-Bead Chaplet Design

According to The Raccolta (A Manual of Indulgences), the 9-bead chaplet is from at least the late 18th Century.  They have 3 groups of 3 beads with a saint medal or Crucifix in a closed loop or stretched out in a strand. At first, convents and monasteries made rosaries and these chaplets. Over the centuries, they have become more readily available.

The Prayers

On the medal or Crucifix, we ask for the intercession of a particular saint. Then, we pray one Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be on each group of beads. There is a partial indulgence when we say the sets of prayers this way.

Handmade Catholic items by Our Lady of Grace Rosaries are designed to be cherished and built to endure.

About Our Handmade Chaplets

Packaging

Each chaplet comes with a sturdy prayer card.  It has the full text of the prayers and explains which prayers to say on which beads.

Suggestion

It is a good idea to store your chaplets and prayer cards together.  Since chaplets have unique bead groupings and prayers, the prayer card and chaplet need to stay together so that you can continue to use them.
