More Details
Our St. Teresa of Calcutta Rosary has the Job’s Tears seed beads and the Crucifix she loved. It has a third-class relic at the back of the center medal.
The Beads
In her canonization portrait, Saint Teresa of Calcutta holds a rosary. It has her favourite beads and Crucifix. She loved rosaries with Job’s Tears seeds because of their humility. They grow wild in the ditches of India and other tropical countries.
The Crucifix
The Crucifix has a unique story. Mother Teresa found one in the dirt and knew nothing of its history. Later, while in Rome, she noticed that Archbishop Francisco Errazuriz (of Chile) wore it as his pectoral Cross. She showed him the smaller version of it that she always carried. Mother Teresa explained how it expressed the purpose of her order. Their role is to stand close to the dying Christ, like Mary, and to meet Him in the poorest of the poor. She asked him for 3,000 of the Unity Crosses (to give to every religious sister in her order).
*The Crucifix is rare and we had to pay extra to purchase it. As a result, this rosary costs a little more than similar rosaries.
*Since the beads are natural, the rosary has subtle differences each time we make it.
About Job's Tears
All-Natural
We grow these seeds without the use of any products. As a result, we often have little friends in our garden. This sweet grasshopper posed for a photo.
How We Select Them
Since the seeds are natural, their appearance varies a little. We take time to match up the sizes and shapes for each rosary. We like variations in the shades of grey and beige because they add to the natural look of the rosary. The seeds we choose have durable, healthy shells.
What Makes Them Shiny?
A unique feature of these seeds is that the oils of the hands of the person praying with them make them shinier. For most people, rosaries made with our seeds will turn a shiny grey with time. Sometimes they will darken the more you pray with them. I have a friend whose rosary beads turned rich, chestnut brown.
