Scriptural Stations of the Cross
Sign of the Cross
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Opening Prayers
Heavenly Father,
by the suffering and death of your Son,
strengthen and protect us in our weakness.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Amen.
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good,
I have sinned against You Whom I should love above all things,
I firmly intend, with Your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Saviour, Jesus Christ, suffered and died for us.
In His name, my God, have mercy. Amen.
or
O, my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins because of Your just punishments, but most of all because they offend You, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love; I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen
God, our heavenly Father, we raise our minds and hearts to You in praise and thanksgiving. Though weak and sinful, we wish to follow Your only Son, our Lord Jesus, on the way of the Cross. May Your Holy Spirit help us use our Saviour’s strength effectively in our place of life.
We ask for the special aid of our blessed Lady, ever Virgin, and Mother, in following Christ and in making His way of the Cross our way of life. Amen
Stabat Mater
We included a copy of the melody line. After this page, we will just be posting the lyrics.
At the Cross her station keeping,
Stood the mournful Mother weeping,
Close to Jesus till the last.

The LOGO image of Our Lady of Grace is original artwork by Martin Lariviere in 2009. We have the artist’s permission (my son). It is our exclusive trademark logo image.
A beautifully photographed sky by Donald Tong inspired the website’s colour scheme. Cropped portions of it are the background for the footer Bible verse. He shared it as a free download on pexels.com.
Raphael painted The Sistine Madonna circa (1513-1514). We made circular cut-outs from the original image.
In 1604, Jacopo Ligozzi Verona painted Christ Carrying the Cross.
We found a cut melody line for the Stabat Mater. We have not yet located the source for the copy, although the song is from the 14th Century.
Pope Benedict XVI chose the opening prayer for a Good Friday service in 2009.
Ecce Homo (Behold the Man!) is an Antonio Ciseri painting from circa 1860 to 1880.
