Wood Bead Cleaning Tips
It is never a good idea to soak a rosary with wood beads in water or to clean it in a washing machine.
Euro Wood
Euro Wood beads are as lightweight as they are durable. The colour is non-toxic, and the surface is smooth. They could split or discolour if soaked in water or put in a washing machine. Instead, spray a soft cloth with a gentle furniture cleaner like a diluted oil soap (not detergent). Gently clean and dry the beads individually with a lint-free cloth, like a t-shirt. Let them air dry completely.
Olive Wood
Olive Wood beads are smooth, durable, and have unique grain and marbling details. However, they could get damaged or discoloured if soaked in water or put in a washing machine. Instead, rub the beads with a little olive oil to keep them looking new. They can also be cleaned with a gentle furniture cleaner like a diluted oil soap (not a detergent). Gently clean and polish the beads individually with a lint-free cloth, like a t-shirt. Let them air dry completely.
We DO NOT RECOMMEND DIP CLEANERS because they could cause permanent damage. They can cause the metal to be prone to future tarnishing. Some of them will corrode the metal and the beads. Even immersing a rosary in a gentle cleaner can trap moisture inside the bead holes next to the wire. As a rule, the wire should be kept dry.
