More Details

The Our Lady of Lourdes Chaplet has wire-wrapped Czech glass beads and a medal with a scene from Lourdes, France. The prayers are for her intercession.

Saint Bernadette

From February 11 to July 16, 1858, Saint Bernadette Soubirous met the Blessed Virgin Mary eighteen times at the grotto in Lourdes, France. Our Lady of Lourdes asked the young girl to drink from a fountain in the grotto. Since there was no visible water, she dug a hole in the dirt from which a spring began to flow.

The Sanctuary of Lourdes

The water from this spring still flows today. The Sanctuary of Lourdes is one of the most-visited Catholic shrines in the world, with four to six million pilgrims annually. To date, there are countless healings, with seventy recognized as miraculous with no scientific explanation.

History of the 9-Bead Chaplet

According to The Raccolta: A Manual of Indulgences, the 9-bead chaplet is at least 500 years old. They were likely in use before the late 18th Century. They have 3 groups of 3 beads with a saint medal or Crucifix in a closed loop or stretched out in a strand. At first, only convents and monasteries made them. Over the centuries, they have become more readily available.

Prayers

On the medal or Crucifix, we ask for the intercession of a particular saint. Then, we pray one Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be on each group of beads. There is a partial indulgence when we say the sets of prayers this way.

Handmade Catholic items by Our Lady of Grace Rosaries are designed to be cherished and built to endure.

About Our Handmade Chaplets

Packaging

Each chaplet comes with a sturdy prayer card.  It explains which prayers to say on which beads.

Suggestion

It is a good idea to store your chaplets and prayer cards together.  Since chaplets have unique bead groupings and prayers, the prayer card and chaplet need to stay together so that you can continue to use them.
