The Benefits of Praying Novenas

Self-Discipline

We learn to have a prayer routine and better self-discipline by saying novena prayers every day for nine days. Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray always and not lose heart. (Luke 18:1)

More Meaningful

Novenas help us prepare for Feast days and solemnities so that they have greater meaning for us.

Trusting in God

As we focus on a specific prayer intention, we learn to trust that God knows what is best for us.

Praying a novena reminds us how much we rely on God’s love. He answers our prayers in the way that is best for us.

What are the Christmas Novena Prayers?

The 9-day Christmas Novena (Dec. 16-24) starts with this prayer:

O Lord, infant Jesus, fill us with JOY! The birth of any child is a cause for joy, and so much more is the birth of You, our Savior. We pray in union with Mary, Your mother, for a greater joy this Christmas….”  Find the complete novena on our website.

When does the Christmas Novena start?

During the Season of Advent, beginning on December 16th, we pray for the 9 days leading up to Christmas to prepare our hearts to celebrate the Birth of Jesus.  It is different from the St. Andrew Christmas Novena.  Both are traditional Catholic prayers.
