General Surface Cleaning
Did you know that general surface cleaning is best? If you immerse your rosary, water can get trapped next to the wire inside of a bead and cause damage.

Another Use for a Toothbrush
Dip a damp toothbrush and a soft cloth into warm soapy water (mild detergent). Toothpaste works well for stubborn stains.

Dry Completely
Dry it, then let the rosary completely air dry before using it again.

How to Prevent Tarnish
It helps to store your item in a closed container until you use it again. A piece of anti-tarnish paper or a silicone gel packet that comes with new shoes (poisonous) helps. I also noticed that the rosaries I use most have less tarnish.

Although cleaning a rosary depends on how it is made, the number one thing to avoid is immersing it (even in a gentle liquid cleaner). If moisture is trapped inside the bead next to the wire, it could cause permanent damage.
Our top tip for cleaning rosaries is to surface clean with a damp cloth and a mild liquid soap. For stubborn stains, a damp toothbrush with a little toothpaste will help.
Here are a few more tips:
- A little olive oil will help restore olive wood beads
- Bronze naturally darkens to a vintage look. It is best to let it age.
- Sterling Silver is best cleaned with a silver polishing cloth and then a dry cloth.
Praying your rosary regularly and storing it in a rosary case will help prevent tarnish. It prevents exposure to air, moisture, and chemicals, including those found in hand sanitizers.
