A Reading from the Gospel According to Luke

(Luke 23: 27-28)

And there followed him a great multitude of the people, and of women who bewailed and lamented him.  But Jesus turning to them said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.”

Jesus: (celebrant reads)

O how pleasing to Me is living faith! (1420). Tell all, that I demand that they live in the spirit of faith (353).

St. Faustina: (all read)

I fervently beg the Lord to strengthen my faith, so that in my drab, everyday life I will not be guided by human dispositions, but by those of the spirit. Oh, how everything drags man towards the earth! But lively faith maintains the soul in the higher regions and assigns self-love its proper place; that is to say, the lowest one (210).

Christ's Agony in the Garden painting by Carlo Dolci, Stations of the Cross
Feet of Jesus, Divine Mercy painting

All Read:

Merciful Lord, I thank You for holy Baptism and the grace of faith. Continuously, I call: Lord, I believe, increase my faith.

Celebrant Reads:

You, who suffered wounds for us,

All Read:

Christ Jesus, have mercy on us.

Stabat Mater

O thou Mother! Fount of love!
Touch my spirit from above,
Make my heart with thine accord.

A beautifully photographed sky by Donald Tong inspired the website’s colour scheme. Cropped portions of it are the background for the footer Bible verse. He shared it as a free download on pexels.com.

Raphael painted The Sistine Madonna circa (1513-1514). We made circular cut-outs from the original image.

Lo Spasimo di Sicilia is by the artist Raffaello Saanzio da Urbino   (also known as Raphael).  He painted it in 1517.

We chose a Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo painting of Jesus’ third fall.  It is oil on canvas and located in the Church of San Polo in Venice.  He painted it circa 1745 to 1749.

Carlo Dolci painted Christ’s Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane circa 1631-1686.

Saracrl shared the close-up of the feet of our Lord from the Divine Mercy painting on Cathopic.
